Fantasy Island Beach Resort is located on Roatan, one of three major islands that form the Bay Islands of Honduras. Just 35 miles off the Northern coast of Honduras, Roatan is surrounded by the second largest barrier reef in the world. At 32 miles long and 4 miles wide, Roatan’s topography includes beautiful white sand beaches, rocky shorelines, rainforest covered hills and mangrove wetlands all framed by the turquoise waters of the Caribbean.

Climate: Virtually idyllic weather prevails year-round. Temperatures hover between 77F and 89F with gentle trade winds from the southeast. October to December are the wettest months, but rainfall is generally periodic and of short duration. Sand fleas and mosquitoes exist, but are not unbearable. Just bring a good insect repellent. Expect water temperatures in the low to mid 80F in summer and high 70F in winter. Although visibility underwater can peak at 100 feet or more, expect an average of 80 feet, unless storms or plankton cloud the water.

Language: Although Spanish is the official language of Honduras, English with a British lilt is widely spoken in the Bay Islands.

Currency: The Honduran Lempira is the official currency on Roatan, but almost everyone will happily accept US dollars at the current exchange rate. Fantasy Island accepts major traveler’s checks, Visa, MasterCard & American Express.  A $34 departure tax is due at airport in cash when departing Roatan.

The Resort: Fantasy Island is a 21 acre private island accessed by a wooden bridge idyllically situated on the southeast side of Roatan only 8 miles from the Roatan Airport.  Guests will stay in one of the 109 well equipped rooms and enjoy dining in one of the resort’s two restaurants. A full service bar is located off the lobby overlooking the beautiful resort style pool and the magnificent ocean deck. The resort also offers a private marina, a gift shop, tennis/basketball courts along with its magnificent white sand beaches and complete dive center.

Resort Rooms: The rooms at Fantasy Island parallel the beautiful beach encouraging guests to relax on their balcony or patio and experience the wonderful ocean view and breeze. Inside all rooms are equipped with air-conditioning, satellite TV’s, telephones, hairdryers and mini-fridges.

Food: Meals at Fantasy Island are served buffet style. In addition to the wonderful fresh fruit and salad bar and various hot international entrees, a chef is always on hand grilling eggs to order for breakfast or various main course meats or sea foods for lunch or dinner. All pastries and deserts are made on site. Coffee, tea, water and juices are complimentary with meals and a selection of soft drinks and wine are available. The well stocked boutique offers snacks, liquor, soft drinks, sundries, hand crafted jewelry, clothing and a variety of souvenirs.

Diving: After arrival, divers at Fantasy Island will be introduced to their boat captain and dive master. These professionals will be with the diver throughout their stay attending to their diving needs both above and underwater. The 6 custom 42 foot dive boats are specifically designed with the needs of divers in mind and deliver them to some of the world's best diving only minutes away. Most dive sites are characterized by spectacular crevices and tunnels opening to breathtaking walls, excellent visibility, abundant fish, brilliant corals and boat ride times of 5-20 minutes. Amazing shore diving is only a giant stride away from the convenient dive gazebo itself just a 3 minute stroll from the hotel lobby. The Dive Center features dockage for the dive boats directly adjacent to the spacious guest gear storage area, underwater photo center, compressors and equipment rental facility. Fantasy Island also has its own on-site hyperbaric chamber, a full menu of PADI and SSI certification courses and nitrox by the tank or by the week. Water Sports: A variety of boats and water "toys" are available for rental, including kayaks, sea bikes, and wave runners.

Electricity/Water: The electricity in Roatan is similar to the USA, 110 volts AC, 60 cycles, using standard U.S. plugs. The water for the resort comes from wells and is chlorinated and purified on site.

Complimentary Internet: For guests with their own computers, wireless internet access is available in the lobby. A courtesy computer in the lobby is also available.
